My wife’s first car. She bought it from the original owners when she was 16.
Now it’s just been parked in the woods with a seized up engine for 14 years. Time to bring it back to life.
First job is to remove the seized engine. It’s under all there somewhere. I seem to recall that the vacuum lines were all cracked anyway.
Found the engine!
Front clip removed for engine swap.
New high output 305 about to go in.
All bolted in with a new carb. Ready to put on the new long tube headers.
Frame and engine all cleaned up.
Body’s not in terrible shape, but it will definitely be repainted and new decals applied once the engine is done.
Last chance to do the hard-to-reach work before the front clip goes back on.
Time to install my new long-tube Doug’s Headers.
Except that they don’t bolt up because the driver’s side hits all kinds of stuff. Doug’s was good enough to take them back and send me some short-tubes. But now I have to wait…
I don’t even know what this part is called, but it holds the entire front of the car together. And now it’s cleaned up and painted.

Getting the accessories and wires all hooked back up. Replacing any cracked wire loom and vacuum lines. Found this cool hose set. I heard blue hoses make it go faster.
Ryan at Second Skin painted the insides of the fenders while I had them off. He also painted the plastic front cone. Once it’s put back together, he’ll shoot the rest.
